About PL Matchday

About

PL Matchday was built by a fan who wanted to better understand his team's performance and didn't want to rely on a sporadic social media post analysing data. Once the framework was built for one club, applying it across the whole league was a natural next step.

The site lets you follow your club's season in more depth than a standard scoreboard allows. Pick your team and get a full season view: live league table, squad minutes by competition, comparative performance against last season, goal timing patterns, clean sheet records, and detailed statistical breakdowns for attacking, defensive, and player-level metrics.

Data freshness

Data freshness. Every tile on the site is wired directly to the football data API. After each match finishes, the site rebuilds automatically and all affected stats update within minutes of full time. That includes the league table, Points Gap, Form Timeline, Clean Sheets, Goal Timing, xG chart, Home vs Away splits, Comeback Rate, Scoring First, all squad minute bars, and the player performance tables. There is no manual step: the rebuild is triggered automatically at full time on every match day.

Historical 2025-26 data is hardcoded from the final standings and will not change. The 2026-27 column on each tile fills in as matches are played and reflects the most recent completed rebuild.

Always free

The goal is for PL Matchday to always be free for anyone to use: no accounts, no paywalls, no subscriptions. If something looks wrong or is missing, there's a feedback button in the top-right corner and every report gets read.
