The City Ground sits on the banks of the River Trent in West Bridgford and has been Nottingham Forest's home since 1898, making it one of the most historically significant grounds in European football given the club's back-to-back European Cup victories of 1979 and 1980. The redevelopment of the Peter Taylor Stand completed the ground's ongoing modernisation programme, bringing capacity to just over 30,000. The stadium's riverside setting and its proximity to the county cricket ground and Trent Bridge create a distinctive sporting quarter on the south side of the Trent.
